SHIFT

The View Gallery presents “SHIFT”, an exhibition of paintings by Stephen Laidlaw that document the multiple stylistic and technical shifts in the life of an artist. With personal identity as a focus, SHIFT explores the private and public development of self through various formats and approaches to painting, including works on paper and the use of text on canvas. Born in Montreal and based in Nanaimo, Laidlaw maintains an active studio practice and is the gallery technician for the Nanaimo Art Gallery.
