Most British Columbia colleges and universities offer one or more Creative Writing courses which are equivalent to VIU's courses. Some institutions offer two-levels of Creative Writing and/or Journalism courses; students from these institutions may be eligible to enter our degree program at the third-year level.
Students who have declared as Creative Writing Majors or Minors will have priority admission to all second-year and senior-level Creative Writing courses, assuming they have completed the prerequisite courses or courses with a grade of “B-“ or better. Students who wish to transfer to VIU at the second-year and senior level in order to pursue degrees in Creative Writing or Journalism are advised to declare their Major or Minor at the time of application to VIU.
