Our overarching agenda is for VIU to become an interdisciplinary research hub for the Central Vancouver Island region. Our eye-tracking equipment enables VIU to provide accessible infrastructure and systems for researchers and students to undertake scholarship and research activities without needing to coordinate with and travel to universities in the provincial capital of Victoria or on the mainland. Having access to such resources is important for the advancement of knowledge and applications of scholarly endeavors and will benefit VIU as well as the Central and North Island academic community. This research infrastructure will facilitate collaborative interdisciplinary relationships within VIU, as well as with scholars at other universities across Canada and internationally, bringing about new insights, discoveries and advancements.
