Curious about design, art or visual storytelling?
Join us for our Open House this March, April and May! Our Graphic Design Program could be the perfect fit for you.
We’ll be hosting three Open House sessions this spring on campus:
- March 25, 6pm
- April 22, 6pm
- May 20, 6pm
RSVP here and we'll send you more information.
If you can’t make it, no problem; we’re happy to meet one-on-one to answer questions about our programs, chat about your goals, or review your portfolio. Email us to set something up—we’d love to meet you!
What is an Open House, and why do we do this?
Many students tell us, “I want a creative career, but I don’t know where to start.” This is where to start. Our Open House is a relaxed, friendly event where you can explore our studios, meet faculty, and even get advice on putting together your application portfolio.
You don't need to show us your work but if you'd like feedback, you can bring anything you’ve made — drawings, paintings, photos, jewelry, websites, videos, writing, or that quirky sculpture your aunt doesn’t understand. If you made it, we want to see it — Anything you’ve made counts!
Ok, So how do I apply to the program?
Easy. First, apply to VIU here, then submit your work to SlideRoom in any of the following formats:
- PDF, JPEG or TIFF.
- URL link to your work.
- URL and/or a PDF document with multiple pages.
- drawings and paintings
- photographs and jewelry
- websites, video or audio
- short stories and poems
- the craft art sculpture your aunt thinks is weird
