Helen Brown Book Prize

The Helen Brown Book Prize is awarded each spring to a History student who distinguishes herself or himself by academic achievement, research, commitment to the History department and its work, or service to their fellow students.

Sign-up will begin at 9:30 a.m. in Building 325, Room 110. Interviews will start at 10 a.m.

Camie Augustus joined VIU in 2016. She is originally from Saskatchewan – Cree traditional lands in Treaty 6 territory – where she completed her PhD at the University of Saskatchewan.

INDG 101  (6)  Exploring Indigenous Identities

A team-taught learning community examining the formation and maintenance of Canadian indigenous identities in both historical and contemporary times. In lectures and small seminars students explore the diversity of indigenous identities and the internal and external forces that shape their construction. A resident elder supports all lectures and seminars. (3:3:0)

Prerequisite: Min. "C" in English 12.
