Statement of Purpose

The primary objectives of the Department of History are to provide students with an enriched and comprehensive understanding of the past, while introducing them to the diverse approaches and methodologies employed by the discipline. The Department fosters critical thinking and oral and written communication skills that enhance students’ capacity for independent intellectual inquiry and provide essential preparation for the pursuit of graduate studies in History and for many other professions and careers.
