E-MAILING YOUR CLASS LIST(S) AND WAIT-LIST(S) FROM VIU AND FROM HOME

Using the handy SRS mail system is a secure way of sending messages to your class list(s) without exposing the names/email addresses of the other students in your class(es). (You can use this same method on Campus, as well.)

***IMPORTANT NOTE: When sending class list messages from home, you must be logged in to VIU Webmail, which is on the Exchange server where the class lists reside.***

INSTRUCTIONS:

If you are OFF CAMPUS, log on to VIU Webmail (webmail.viu.ca)  then go to STEP 1.

If you are ON CAMPUS, simply go to STEP 1.

STEP 1:     Open a new email message to compose.

STEP 2:     In the TO: field, enter your course email address following this syntax:

                  CRSE_NUM_SECTION@srsmail.viu.ca

Use this syntax for your active wait-list(s):

                  CRSE_NUM_SECTION~W@srsmail.viu.ca

Example:  If you (or any person with grade-entry permission for that class) were to compose an email message to send to the ENGL 115 F20N01 class, the mailing list address you would enter would be:

                  ENGL_115_F20N01@srsmail.viu.ca

Wait-list example:

                 ENGL_115_F20N01~W@srsmail.viu.ca

Note: Those are underscores, not dashes, between ENGL and 115 and F20N01.

If you are sending one message to several classes, separate the mailing list addresses with a semi-colon and a space.  Example:

ENGL_115_F20N01@srsmail.viu.ca; ENGL_115_F20N05@srsmail.viu.ca

STEP 3:     You will receive a confirmation SRS Mail list processor report from VIU Student Mail <donotreply@srsmail.viu.ca>, which will list all the students to whom the email was sent (and list any student who wasn't sent the email because they have no email address in their student record).
